Do leftists understand why young men are becoming more right-wing?

Do I think everyone on the left understand why young men are turning to the right? And many women too mind you? No. I don’t think so. I think they are realizing that they are doing something wrong, but not what. They have begun running after previously right-wing talking points at least.

Immigration too. Sure it’s amazing if your country can help everyone. But, when the economy feels like it’s down the drain, and problems related to immigration is increasing, people don’t feel they have the luxury to help others.

Within entertainment I don’t think enough leftists have realized why their products aren’t selling. There’s still a lot of gaslighting and name calling still going on.

What I don’t think the left truly realizes is that most of their ideologies are luxury beliefs. They are things you can afford to care about when you live in luxury. Historically it wasn’t the case. When the left were actual labor parties, there was a lot more focus on the wellbeing of the working class - which ment a lot more focus on the wellbeing of men.

But, I don’t think the left have realized just how far left they have drifted. I’m old enough to remember the Tea-Party movement era in the USA. Which is probably the time the US was the furthest to the right they have ever been. Do you know who was against open borders then? I’ll give you a hint: It wasn’t the Republicans. Back then “open borders is a Koch brothers conspiracy” - The Koch brothers were large Republican backers. In a way they were that era’s George Soros - the rich people we blamed for everything.

I think anyone will struggle with acknowledging that their behavior, their ideas, is what’s causing problems in the world.

Hello, I have a question about astral projection. I started to get interested in this a little while after my mum passed in april. I thought I may be able to see her and speak with her if I managed to achieve astral projection. Since this interest, every time i sleep on my back I go into sleep paralysis. However, I cant progress into astral projection because it is very scary for me as I feel like I'm suffocating when this happens. I panic and force myself to wake up. This only ever happened about once a year before this. It sometimes lasts a long time. This has happened about 3 times per week since my mum died, as mentioned on a previous post. I no longer try to go into it anymore(due to the suffocating feeling), but it still happens. I read that sleep paralysis is the pathway to astral projection. Why has this started to happen so frequently since simply taking an interest in it? Is this connected to the afterlife? I am concerned about it as I now cannot seem to stop this happening. Could it be my mum trying to communicate? Im asking due to more knowledge around this in this group.

I’m not sure the Left actually realize just how far left they have gone. They abandoned the working class at some point. The further left you come you generally find more academically attuned people. You also find a lot of voters who work in the public sector - teachers, nurses, etc. As such this group has increasingly become the target demographic of the left. But, most actual working class people don’t work in the public sector. Plumbers, carpenters, factory workers etc, these people work overwhelmingly in the private sector. Public sector jobs tend to also be majority women. Where as the working class jobs tend to be majority men.

But, over time - especially late 60s early 70s - we see a shift on the left towards luxury beliefs. A lot of people are pro-choice for instance - but ask a man what’s more important to him: The Economy or abortion, and most of them will say the Economy. That is true for many women too.

Recently the director of Assassins Creed Shadows - a highly criticized game even before release - was defending the games choices, and trying to gaslight people by saying their games have “always been woke.” Does he realize why gamers are leaving his game? Maybe, he simply seems to not care. Why? I don’t know. Clearly he doesn’t like having a job I guess?

Guess what? Who do you think your average gamer will vote for if he bothers to vote? Kamala “I’m a feminist” Harris or Donald “By the Pussy” Trump? Which of those two people represents what the gamer sees as “everything wrong with video games”?

But. If the journalist class suddenly change what metrics to judge a game on towards more left-wing ideas such as gender-identity, LGBTQ representation, ugly people representation, fat acceptence etc. Then the games will change too. But! Is this what the audience wants?

Side Note on the USA compared to countries with a multi-party system: In the USA it’s highly likely that “the left” might gain a swing back in the next election - as people might become disenfranchised by Trump. “the right” needs to deliver on their promises.

Let’s also keep in mind that this right-leaning shift in politics isn’t just occurring in the USA - this is a trend across all of the West. In my homecountry of Norway for instance the Labor party - which used to be the largest party in Norway for decades following WW2 - have become the third largest party. Not only that, they have lost almost their whole male voting block. Last I saw only 7% of their voters are men. Meanwhile our furthest right party, is now the largest party.

Many places in the West have had mostly a left leaning ideological approach to politics for decades. But, as we reach the middle of the 20s we are seeing that those policies is reaching their end station. The old ideas are dying out. Here, I don’t think the left is aware that’s what’s happening. It’s difficult to say “Our ideas are no longer what we need.”

Even though Harris did try to downplay some of the feminist rhetoric, at least in comparison to Hillary Clinton, the association is still there.

But, that’s politics. The voters decide what ideas are important for society, and the parties ebb and flow in size and power.

In for instance Norway, we might see one party shrink, but often another party on the wing rises. As such the right might stay in power, but which party is in the lead will change.

Many people do care though. Many on the left are waking up to the fact that their ideologies aren’t what people want. I think some are realizing that they need to purge the more extreme ideological parts of the left before people can trust them again. Many realize that calling men evil for just being men isn’t going to make them vote for them. Belittling men for being incels, won’t make them like the left more. The shaming tactics of “oh you aren’t a racist are you?” only works when people fear being labeled a racist. I think many on the left realizes that “hey, we have been calling everyone racist for a decade now… maybe we shouldn’t if it’s not true.” They did ruin the term after all. If you call everyone racist, then well nobody is.

How long can someone with narcissistic tendencies maintain a facade of fake love before their true self is revealed? Is there a specific trigger or amount of time that causes them to reveal their true nature?

Then there’s things like entertainment. I don’t think we should understate how much that affects people’s behavior. Guys love video games - for many men that’s an escape from an otherwise difficult life. In the past decade or so there’s been a left-wing attack on video games, as well as other media. “Gamers are Dead” - and other anti-gamer sentiments have been strong within games journalism. The journalist class have been the ones who critique video games, and as such set a score on how good a game is. In the past this was a trusted way to see if a game was worth buying or not. Developers were smart to look at what made games rate highly.

To me “leftists” are people who are too ingrained in left wing ideology to realize there are other valid points. As such, in my opinion you can’t be a “leftist” and understand why young men are becoming more right-wing. But, you can stop being a leftist by acknowledging that it is because the left doesn’t have all the answers.
